Dr. Kristy Burton built Arkansas Counseling & Wellness Services after nearly two decades in law enforcement with Arkansas Community Corrections and U.S. Probation & Pretrial Services. The practice was built with the legal and corrections workflow in mind, because accountability without treatment fails, and treatment without documentation does not help your client satisfy a court order.
Programs we offer for referred clients
- Domestic Violence Intervention Program (DVIP). Court-approved weekly group for adult domestic violence offenders. Psychoeducational and CBT-based. Held at our North Little Rock location.
- Anger Management Class. 8-hour court-approved class delivered in two 4-hour sections. CBT curriculum. Both sections required for credit.
- Substance Abuse Group. 9-hour court-approved psychoeducational and CBT group covering addiction, triggers, and recovery pathways.
- Theft Prevention Class. Educational intervention addressing behavior patterns and prevention.
- DOT SAP Evaluations. Dr. Burton is a qualified Substance Abuse Professional. Initial and follow-up evaluations for DOT return-to-duty cases. Typically scheduled within two business days.
Our documentation practices
- Attendance tracking per session, shared with referring party on request
- Completion certificates issued with program name, hours, and facilitator credentials
- Progress narratives available for higher-stakes cases (subject to client authorization)
- Clear, written make-up and attendance policies
- SAP documentation meeting 49 CFR Part 40 requirements
What we will not do
- We do not place clients with dual court orders or co-defendants in the same session
- We do not substitute anger management for DVIP (anger management is not an appropriate intervention for domestic violence offenders)
- We do not provide completion documentation for clients who have not actually completed program requirements
- We do not share client information without written authorization, even with referring parties, though we will confirm attendance and completion per the signed release
