Corrections policy

How to submit a correction to clinical content on arcounselingandwellness.com and how we handle corrections.

Last updated: 2026-04-29

How to submit a correction

If you find a factual error, an outdated citation, an incorrect regulation reference, or any other accuracy issue on a clinical page, send us the details:

  • Email: scheduling@arcounselingandwellness.com with subject "Correction request"
  • Include: page URL, the specific claim or paragraph that is wrong, what should replace it, and a primary source supporting the correction

You can also submit by phone (501-464-2926) but written submissions are processed faster.

Acknowledgment

We acknowledge correction requests within two business days of receipt. The acknowledgment is not a commitment to make the change — it confirms we have received the request and that Dr. Burton is reviewing it.

Investigation

Dr. Burton (or her designated reviewer) verifies the cited source, checks the claim against current primary literature, and decides one of:

  • Material correction: the claim was wrong in a way that could mislead a reader. We update the page within 5 business days, post the correction at the top of the page (see disclosure standard below), and log it in our public corrections log.
  • Minor correction: a typo, formatting issue, or stylistic clarification. We update the page within 10 business days. No public log entry.
  • No change: the original content was correct, or the proposed correction is not supported by primary sources. We respond to the submitter explaining the reasoning.

Disclosure standard for material corrections

When we make a material correction, we post a notice at the top of the corrected page that includes:

  1. The date of the correction
  2. A brief description of what was changed
  3. Why the change was made (cite the new source)

The notice stays for 90 days and then moves to the corrections log. The corrections log is permanent and public.

What counts as material vs minor

IssueTreatment
Wrong citation URL but correct claimMinor — we fix and refresh dateModified
Outdated regulation reference (e.g. 49 CFR Part 40 amendment we missed)Material — top-of-page notice + log entry
Misstated session length or class durationMaterial — top-of-page notice + log entry
Typo in a clinician's credentialsMaterial — credentials are high-stakes
Grammar or punctuation errorMinor — silent fix
Misattribution of a statement to wrong author or sourceMaterial — top-of-page notice + log entry

What this policy does not cover

  • Disagreements with clinical opinion (that is what the editorial policy review process is for)
  • Requests to remove negative reviews on third-party sites (we cannot edit Psychology Today or Google)
  • HIPAA-related concerns (those go to our Privacy Officer)
  • Complaints about clinical care (those follow Arkansas Board of Examiners in Counseling complaint procedures)
