Common questions

Before
you book.

The questions we hear most. If yours is not here, call us, we are happy to talk it through.

Your first session is a 50-minute intake. Your counselor will ask about what brought you in, your background, and what you hope to get out of therapy. You will also complete intake paperwork (most of which you can complete in advance through our patient portal). There is no expectation that you share everything on day one.

Most clients come weekly or biweekly, especially early in treatment. Frequency may change as you progress. Your counselor will recommend what fits your situation and what your goals require.

Yes. We offer HIPAA-compliant telehealth to any client physically located in Arkansas or Missouri. Initial intake is generally preferred in person when possible, but ongoing sessions can be virtual. Court-ordered groups meet in person at our North Little Rock location. See our online counseling page for details.

We accept several major Arkansas insurance plans including Arkansas BCBS, UnitedHealthcare/UMR, Ambetter, Cigna, Aetna, and others. Call 501-464-2926 and we will verify your specific plan before your first visit. Full list on our insurance page.

Yes. We offer competitive self-pay rates. Some clients prefer self-pay for privacy reasons or because they do not want a diagnosis in their medical record. Call for current rates.

We have limited sliding-scale spots with our counseling interns and select associates. Eligibility is based on household income and is assessed during intake. If cost is a barrier, tell us, we will discuss options.

Yes, with specific legal exceptions. Counselors are required to break confidentiality when there is imminent risk of harm to self or others, in cases of suspected child or elder abuse, and in response to certain court orders. Your counselor will review confidentiality in detail at your first session and you will sign a consent form acknowledging these limits.

Bring your referral paperwork, whether that is a court order, probation referral, attorney letter, or employer referral. This helps us confirm which specific program satisfies your requirement (DVIP, anger management, substance abuse group, theft prevention, or SAP evaluation) and ensures documentation of completion flows to the right party.

Yes. We have counselors who specialize in children and adolescents, including play therapy for younger kids. Parents will participate in parts of the intake process, and ongoing communication depends on the child age and treatment plan. For teens, therapy works best when confidentiality within the therapy room is respected while parents are kept informed of safety-relevant concerns.

Our team is trained in evidence-based modalities including EMDR, Brainspotting, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Motivational Interviewing, Reality Therapy, parts work, play therapy, and person-centered approaches. We match each client with the clinician whose specialty fits the situation.

Availability varies by counselor and location. We prioritize scheduling new clients as quickly as possible, typically within two weeks. Requesting through the patient portal or calling our office Monday through Thursday is the fastest route.

We ask for 24 hours notice for cancellations or reschedules. Late cancellations and missed appointments may be charged a fee, which helps us offer slots to clients on our waitlist. Specific policy details are covered in your intake paperwork.
