Dr. Burton is the owner and clinical director of Arkansas Counseling and Wellness Services. Before her clinical career, she spent nearly two decades as a law enforcement officer and instructor with Arkansas Community Corrections and U.S. Probation and Pretrial Services. She returned to school in midlife, completing her PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision at the University of the Cumberlands in 2023.
Today she serves as President of the Arkansas Addiction Professionals Association, President-Elect of the Arkansas Counseling Association, board member of the Arkansas Substance Abuse Certification Board, and a member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers. She is a professor at Ouachita Baptist University. Her clinical practice focuses on trauma, addiction, co-occurring disorders, and clinical supervision. She is Brainspotting certified and a DOT-qualified Substance Abuse Professional.
Awards include selection in Marquis Who's Who 2024, the Rosenthal Award from the Arkansas Association for Counselor Education and Supervision, and the Champion Award from the Arkansas Coalition Against Domestic Violence.
