Our Domestic Violence Intervention Program (DVIP) is a court-approved psychoeducational and cognitive behavioral therapy group for adult domestic violence offenders. It is held weekly at our North Little Rock office. The program is designed for both men and women referred by the courts to complete structured programming addressing abusive behavior.
What is DVIP?
DVIP is not a substitute for other required court programs, and it is not anger management. Research consistently shows that anger management alone is not an appropriate intervention for domestic violence offenders, because domestic violence is a pattern of power and control, not an emotional regulation problem. Our DVIP program is built on the understanding that abusive behavior is a chosen pattern that can be interrupted through psychoeducation, accountability, and skill-building.
What do participants learn?
The cycle of violence and how power and control operate in intimate relationships
Identifying patterns of coercive behavior, not just physical violence
CBT skills for interrupting escalation
Taking responsibility for behavior without externalizing blame
Communication patterns that support non-abusive relationships
The impact of violence on survivors and on children in the home
Accountability as a practice, not a one-time apology
How is the program structured?
Weekly group meetings at our North Little Rock location
Length of program varies based on court order; we work with most common court-ordered durations
Attendance required; clear make-up and attendance policy
Documentation of attendance and progress sent directly to referring party with authorization
Clients with dual court orders or co-defendants are never placed in the same session
Important notes
Fees are paid by the participant and due in accordance with program policy
Verification of attendance and completion is provided to the court, probation, or referring attorney
If you were the survivor of domestic violence and are seeking support, please call us to be connected with our individual therapy services or external advocacy resources

Related Questions
Can anger management substitute for DVIP?
No. DVIP curriculum addresses power and control dynamics in intimate partner violence and is the program Arkansas courts require for domestic violence referrals. Anger management is a separate program for general anger reactions and does not satisfy a DVIP court order.
How long is the DVIP program?
Program length depends on your court order. Most Arkansas court orders specify a number of weekly sessions. Your intake clinician confirms the exact number required for your case at the first appointment.
What documentation does the court receive?
Attendance per session and a completion document at the end of the program. Session content is not shared with your court, probation officer, or referring attorney unless you sign a specific release for additional information.
Are evening or weekend groups available?
Group schedules vary by location and cohort availability. Schedules are confirmed at intake. Call 501 464 2926 to discuss what cohort options fit your work and life schedule.
What happens if I miss a session?
Each cohort has a stated attendance and make up policy. Missed sessions typically extend your completion timeline. Repeated missed sessions can affect your standing in the program and trigger reporting to your referring party.
Are there programs for survivors of domestic violence?
Yes. If you experienced domestic violence and need support, our individual therapy clinicians treat trauma using EMDR, Brainspotting, and trauma focused cognitive behavioral therapy. Call 501 464 2926 to be matched with a clinician trained in trauma.
