  • Dr. Kristy Burton owns Arkansas Counseling and Wellness Services. Clinical content on this site is therefore authored by the practice owner; we mitigate the inherent conflict by sourcing every clinical claim from primary literature listed in our editorial policy and by submitting clinical content for peer review by senior clinicians on staff.

How we treat clinical content on this website

Every page on this site that describes a treatment, a clinical topic, a regulation, or a process for accessing care is written or supervised by Dr. Kristy Burton (PhD, LPC-S, LADAC, AADC, MAC, CS, SAP, NCC) and reviewed by a second senior clinician before publication. Marketing pages — locations, hours, payment — follow a different review path.

Clinical claims link to primary sources: federal agencies (SAMHSA, CDC, NIH, DOT), professional bodies (APA, ACA, NBCC, ASAM), or peer-reviewed journals. We do not cite marketing copy as evidence.

When a clinical claim turns out to be wrong, we correct it within 24 hours and post an editor's note for 90 days. The full policy lives at clinical content review policy.
