Kristy is owner of Arkansas Counseling and Wellness Services as well as Director. She works in our Fayetteville office with individuals with a variety of mental health, substance abuse, or addiction concerns in our Fayetteville office. She began her career working in law enforcement after earning her undergraduate degree in criminal justice in 2001. For nearly two decades, Kristy worked as a law enforcement officer and instructor working for Arkansas community corrections and US probation. During this time, she earned her MS in community counseling at John Brown University, graduating in 2013. She completed her doctorate at the University of the Cumberlands in counselor education and supervision. Kristy has the opportunity every day to develop her skills as an educator and supervisor, working with our interns and as a professor at John Brown University. She can’t wait to continue putting her education and experience to work helping the leaders of tomorrow. Kristy is currently vice-president of the Arkansas Addiction Professionals Association (NAADAC affiliate), the current President of the Arkansas Association of Counselor Education and Supervision as well as a board member for the Arkansas Substance Abuse Certification Board. Kristy is a board certified supervisor in Arkansas for both mental health and addictions.
In her therapy and counseling sessions, Kristy utilizes evidence-based practices, specifically emotionally focused therapy, reality therapy, cognitive behavior therapy, motivational interviewing, and she is certified in brainspotting to treat a variety of presenting concerns, including domestic violence, substance abuse and addictions, co-occurring disorders, PTSD, anxiety, depression, bipolar, emotional abuse, sexual abuse, trauma, sex and pornography addiction, and psychotic disorders.
