If you cannot reach one of our offices for regular appointments because of work schedule, distance, mobility, or preference, online counseling at Arkansas Counseling and Wellness provides the same quality of care via HIPAA compliant video conferencing or phone. We work with clients age 13 and older across Arkansas and Missouri. Your first session must be in person to establish your treatment plan, and from there we work with you to determine the format that suits your needs. Costs match in person therapy and most insurance plans cover telehealth visits.

You do not have to drive an hour to see a counselor. You do not have to take half a day off work. You do not have to live in Fayetteville or Little Rock to access our care. If you are physically located in Arkansas or Missouri, you can see one of our clinicians by secure video from anywhere you have privacy and an internet connection.
Who does telehealth work well for?
Rural Arkansans without a nearby licensed counselor
Working professionals who cannot fit sessions into a typical workday
Parents of young children
College students in Fayetteville, Conway, Jonesboro, or anywhere else in the state
People with chronic illness or mobility limitations
Clients in recovery who benefit from consistent weekly sessions without travel barriers
Anyone whose first preference is therapy from a private, comfortable space at home
Who is telehealth not a good fit for?
Telehealth is not the right format for everyone. We generally recommend in-person care for clients in active crisis, clients doing intensive trauma processing in early stages of therapy, younger children needing play therapy, and court-mandated group programs (which meet in person at our North Little Rock location). Your clinician will help you figure out the right format for the work you are doing.
How does it work?
Intake. When possible, we prefer to do intake in person at one of our three offices so you can meet your counselor face to face. If you cannot travel, intake by telehealth is available.
Platform. Sessions use a HIPAA-compliant secure video platform. No recording, no storage of session content, no third-party access.
Scheduling. Standard session length (50 minutes) and frequency (typically weekly or biweekly). Same rates as in-person sessions.
Insurance. Most of our accepted insurance plans cover telehealth at the same rate as in-person. Call to verify your specific plan.
Privacy on your end. You need a space where you can talk freely without being overheard. Earbuds help.
HIPAA and your information
The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) protects your health information. Our telehealth platform is encrypted end to end and our clinicians meet you from private office spaces. We do not transmit protected health information over non-secure email, and we ask that you do not either. For medication refills, scheduling, or health questions, please use the patient portal or call our office.
How do I get started?
Request an online intake through the patient portal or call 501-464-2926. Let our scheduling team know you are looking for telehealth and they will match you with a clinician whose specialty fits what you are working on.

Related Questions
Who can use telehealth?
Clients age 13 and older located in Arkansas or Missouri at the time of the session. Your first session must be in person to establish your treatment plan. After that, you and your clinician decide format.
Do I need special technology?
A computer, tablet, or smartphone with a camera, microphone, and reliable internet is sufficient. We use a HIPAA compliant platform accessed through a web browser or mobile app. No special downloads beyond our patient portal are required.
Does insurance cover online therapy?
Most major insurance plans cover telehealth at the same rate as in person therapy, including Arkansas Medicaid. Coverage varies by plan. Call 501 464 2926 to verify your specific telehealth coverage before the first session.
Is telehealth as effective as in person therapy?
Research shows telehealth produces outcomes comparable to in person therapy for most concerns including anxiety, depression, PTSD, and life transitions. Some clients prefer one format; some alternate.
Can my child use telehealth?
Adolescents age 13 and older may use telehealth with parental consent. Younger children typically benefit more from in person sessions where play based interventions can be used. Initial intake helps determine the best format.
What if my internet drops during a session?
Your clinician moves to phone if video connection fails. Brief outages are not unusual. Sustained connectivity issues that compromise care are addressed by switching to phone or rescheduling in person.
